- Tables: cells are padded so columns line up, following the alignment row (
:--,:-:,--:). - Lists: bullets become
-(adjacent lists alternate with*so they stay separate) and nested items get consistent indentation. Numbered lists keep either all1.or counting numbers, judged from the first two items. - Emphasis and spacing:
_italic_and**bold**throughout, one blank line between blocks, escaped characters only where needed. - Code blocks: fenced JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, JSON, YAML, GraphQL and HTML are formatted too, unless you untick it.
Prose wrap decides paragraph line breaks: keep yours, re-wrap at the print width, or join each paragraph onto one line (best for diffs that should not change when a word is added).
Questions
Does it change how my Markdown renders?
No. Prettier only rewrites syntax into an equivalent form, so the rendered HTML stays the same.
Is front matter supported?
Yes. A YAML block between --- lines at the top is kept and formatted as YAML.
What about MDX or GitHub-specific syntax?
GitHub tables, task lists, strikethrough and footnotes are supported. MDX components are best formatted in your editor.
