What it is

FormatBento formats and beautifies JavaScript, TypeScript, JSX, JSON, CSS, SCSS, Less, HTML, Vue, Markdown, YAML, GraphQL, SQL and XML. It is free to use, needs no account and shows no ads.

How it works

Every formatter is JavaScript that runs in the tab you are reading. Each page loads only a small script at first; the formatter for a language is downloaded from this site the first time you use it, so pasting TypeScript does not load the SQL formatter. Your code is never sent anywhere, and once a formatter is loaded it keeps working offline.

Built on open source

• Prettier (standalone build and official plugins) for JavaScript, TypeScript, JSON, CSS, SCSS, Less, HTML, Vue, Markdown, YAML and GraphQL.
• sql-formatter for SQL in twenty dialects.
• yaml for parsing, validating and re-printing YAML streams.
• terser for JavaScript minification and csso for CSS minification.
• The XML printer, the HTML minifier, the whitespace-only CSS minifier, the GraphQL compactor and language detection are FormatBento's own, written for this site.

All of them run in the browser without eval, under a strict Content-Security-Policy.
